The sales tax in Jackson County is 7.5%, the 0.5% benefits Jackson County Schools and is a voted tax.
The current surtax referendum is due to sunset December 31, 2025. Due to legislative change, the voting to keep the surtax must take place during the general election. That means the vote to continue the ½ cent sales surtax for our district will be held November of this year. This will be a continuation of the sales surtax, not an additional tax. This surtax can be used for educational facilities (including construction, reconstruction, renovation, remodeling, land acquisition and improvement, and retrofitting) and technology related hardware and software. The needs never slow and in order to stay on top of maintenance, renovations, improvements, and technological needs of our school district, we need the half cent sales surtax. We want to get the word out to the voters of Jackson County the importance of their vote for our community and our schools.
