Resources for Students and Parents

Learning doesn't end when the dismissal bell rings!

The following web-based digital resources are provided by the district and can be accessed from school or home by the student and/or parent. Students can sign in from home using the school assigned login information. (Parents, please contact your child's teacher if your child needs sign in information.) These are district-wide resources that you and your students can use at home or anywhere with internet access.

FOCUS - Jackson County's Learning Management System. Check student grades and attendance, email teachers, check for upcoming assignments, etc.; grades K-12.

Moby Max - Skills practice for math, language arts, test prep, and writing; grades K-8. 

Accelerated Reader Home Connect - Sign in to view progress towards goals, quizzes taken, etc.; grades K-12.

Think Through Math - Math practice and remediation for middle school students; grades 6-8.

Algebra Nation - Algebra I practice and test prep. Help your student prepare and practice for the Algebra I EOC (End of Course) Exam; grades 8-HS (students enrolled in Algebra I OR who have not passed the Algebra I EOC).

Edgenuity - Credit recovery/online classes; student must be actively enrolled in the course by the school guidance counselor. Grades elementary-HS - check with your student's guidance counselor for more information.     

Destiny - Search your school's library collection; grades K-12.

Learning.com - 21st century technology skills practice; grades K-8.

Curriculum Pathways - Resources in many subject areas for parents and students; grades 6-12.

ConnectED - Reading Wonders student textbook, resources, activities, etc.; grades K-5.

ThinkCentral - Go Math! student textbook, resources, activities, etc.; grades K-5.

The following web-based resources are free and available to the general public. They provide a variety of learning activities, resources, games, homework help, etc., for many different levels of learners. These sites are not purchased or endorsed by the Jackson County School Board, but they were selected by teachers because they are educational in nature and may be used at the discretion of the parent.

Starfall - for pre-readers/early readers; no ads, a variety of learning games, activities, interactive storybooks, etc. Does not require an account or a login.

PBS Kids - Educational games and videos for pre-K through elementary school; also has a parents section. Does not require an account or a login.

ABCya - Educational games and apps by grade level through 5th grade; has a parents and teachers section. Does not require an account or a login.

Cool Math 4 Kids - Math games "for ages 3-12"; math games for pre-K-elementary aged learners. Does not require an account or login.

Cool Math - Same as above, but picking up with fractions and pre-algebra and moving forward from there, "for ages 13-100." Does not require an account or a login.

Free Typing Game - Typing games and lessons; does have some ads. Does not require an account or a login.

Read Theory - Online reading comprehension and writing, critical thinking skills development, etc. Requires a free account.

Fun Brain - Reading, math, and other learning games for grades K-8; has a parents and teachers section. Does not require an account or login.

Multiplication.com - Math games and learning activities for grades 1-high school; addition, subtraction, multiplication, and more. Has a parents and teachers section. Does not require an account or login.

Spelling City - Spelling words and practice activities; you can enter words for your child to take a practice spelling test on the computer, or create a free account to save words lists (there is also a premium paid version with vocabulary practice, etc.); check with your child's teacher as some of them may be using this in the classroom already. 

Hooda Math - Math games for grades K-high school; does not require an account or login.

Turtle Diary - Learning games and worksheets for multiple subjects for grades PK-5th; must have an account to access some features, but many sections are available without an account or login.

Room Recess - Math, language arts, word learning, and other games for elementary aged children; does not require an account or login.
