Welcome
to the homepage of the Middle and Secondary Education Department
of the Jackson County School Board. In an ever changing
world students must have the tools necessary to deal with the
issues they will face. technological advances, a
competitive society and complex societal issues necessitate a
program that will help all students develop their educational,
social, career and personal strengths. Your awareness of
what your child should know and be able to do during each of
his/her school years will assist you in ensuring a successful
learning experience. We encourage you to communicate with
your child's teacher and school for the specifics of what you
can expect, and of course, to answer your questions.
The
curriculum of the Jackson County School Board is based on high
standards of student achievement and incorporates Sunshine State
Standards, national standards and current research on learning.
Benchmarks or expectations of achievement (what each child
should know and be able to do) at the end of each grade level in
each content area are included here as a link for you to peruse.
Being familiar with these benchmarks/expectations will help you
monitor your child's schoolwork, projects and assignments.
Additionally, this should help you communicate with your child's
teacher and to reinforce classroom lessons at home.
