Parents in the Classroom Parents are always welcome in the Early Childhood classrooms. This experience is rewarding for you, your child and the teachers. Here are some tips to remember when volunteering: Be dependable and arrive as planned. Notify the teacher of the date and time you plan to volunteer. Do not use this time to conference with the teacher. Pleas set an appointment when you need time to dicuss your child's progress. Keep any information about other children confidential. Follow the teacher's/paraprofessional's lead in how to work with children and activities. Sign the volunteer log each time you volunteer in the classroom. Official chaperones for field trips: Will be responsible for no more than 5 children, will not bring other family members (child/adule) and will agree to fully participate in entire field trip activity. Jackson County School District requires all volunteers to have a background check before volunteering in the classroom. Please see your child's teacher for the appropriate paperwork. Parent Center Committees
The Parent Center Committee is made up of parents of the children at each school site. These committees provide a time for parents to share their talents, hobbies and plan activities for the students at their school site. The Parent Center Committee meetings are planned and conducted by parents with support given by Comprehensive Services Specialist and Classroom Teachers.
