Each employee of the Jackson County School District receives, at least annualy, a performance appraisal completed by the immediate administrative superviser. The purpose of the annual evaluation is to give feedback on performance and for growth and improvement of services for all departments. By statute, instructional personnel evaluations and school leader evaluations receive 50% of their evaluation based on student performance measures.
As part of the Race to the Top Initiative and to meet Florida Legislative mandates, the Jackson County Teacher Evaluation System was revised through a collaborative effort between the Jackson County School District and Jackson County Educator's Association. The new system was ratified by employees on September 23, 2011 and received full approval by the Florida Department of Education on December 16, 2011. The District and the Jackson County Educators' Association meet when needed to update and revise the system based on legislation, state rule, and agreed upon changes. Information on the system and copies of observation and appraisal forms can be found under the "Informative Documents" section.
